SR 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard, Bradenton: Construction project: This project includes widening SR 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane or six-lane divided roadway, depending on the location, construction of roundabouts on SR 70 at Uihlein Road, Del Webb Boulevard, and Bourneside Boulevard, intersection improvements at the existing signalized intersection of Greenbrook Boulevard and Lorraine Road, construction of four bridges over two Braden River crossing locations, new drainage system, construction of 10-foot shared use paths, street lighting, and landscaping, and installation of new fiber optic cable connecting the two signalized intersections to Manatee County’s regional Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS).

This week’s work will consist of:

• Crews will grade base between Arbor Green Trail and Greenbrook Boulevard.

·         Excavation of the pond on the north side of SR 70 West of Uihlein Road.

• Embankment hauling and grading will occur between Bourneside Boulevard and Polo Run on the north side of SR 70. Trucks will be crossing current SR 70 travel lanes. Please be aware of flaggers stopping traffic for this crossing.

• Setting auger cast piles east of Bourneside Boulevard on the south side of SR 70.

• Driving bridge pile for the western most westbound bridge.

• Crews will grade stabilization between Bourneside Boulevard and Polo Run on the north side of SR 70.

• Installing drainage on the north side of SR 70 between Bourneside Boulevard and Polo Run

Please use caution and watch for trucks and construction vehicles entering or exiting the work zone throughout the construction limits. Work will occur Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please use caution and be aware of workers and flaggers in the area.

Uihlein Road is closed to construct the north portion of the Uihlein Road roundabout. During this time no traffic will be permitted on Uihlein Road between SR 70 and Sapphire Point Drive in either direction. A complete detour and message boards are provided for the detour.

SR 55 (US 19) and SR 684; from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E., from Terra Ceia Road to I-275 and at Royal Palm Drive, Manatee: Construction project: These projects include making improvements along State Road 55 (US 19) from 23rd Avenue W to 39th Street E, SR 55 (US 19) from Terra Ceia Rd to I-275 (NB Ramp) and along SR 684 at Royal Palm Drive in Manatee County. Improvements will involve milling and resurfacing SR 55 from 23rd Ave W to 39th St E, implementing safety improvements, guardrail replacements, sidewalk repair, lighting updates, pedestrian signal replacements, and median modifications.

• Crews will be removing and replacing sidewalk between 17th Avenue W. and Manatee Avenue E. This will require outside lane closures, and sidewalk detours along SR 55 (US 301) (US 41).
• Work will take place overnight, Sunday through Thursday, from 8 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
• Motorists should anticipate outside or inside lane closures on SR 55 (US 301) (US 41) alternating between southbound and northbound directions. Please use caution and watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zone.
• SR 684 (Cortez Road) between 103rd Street Court W. and 99th Street W. – Daily sidewalk closures for the next two weeks to facilitate directional bores. This work will be performed during the daytime, starting Monday, October 6, 2025, and will continue throughout the week. No lane closures required; however, we will need to detour pedestrian traffic.

The estimated completion date for construction is Spring 2027.

SR 70 from Bourneside Boulevard to Waterbury Road, Bradenton: Construction project: This project includes widening SR 70 from Bourneside Boulevard to Waterbury Road from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway, Safety features will include roundabouts to be constructed at 197th Street East/Lindrick Lane, 213th Street East, 225th Street East/Panther Ridge Trail and County Road 675/Waterbury Road. The project will also include the installation of a new drainage system, new curb and gutter, construction of 10-foot shared-use paths and 5-foot paved shoulders on both sides of the roadway, street lighting throughout the project and landscaping inside the roundabouts.

This week’s work will consist of:

·         Grade for the future shared-use path and roadway on the south side of SR 70 between 213th Street 213th Street and Meadow Dove Lane.

·         Future eastbound construction will continue with stabilized subgrade and base construction between 213th Street and Meadow Dove Lane, on the south side of SR 70.

·         Utility relocation work will occur on the North side of SR 70 on the shoulder.

·         Installation of concrete foundations and pull boxes for future lighting on the south side of SR 70 at Meadow Dove Lane.

·         Construction of a box culvert between Lindrick Lane and 213th Street in existing SR 70 lanes at the location where traffic was diverted.

·         Clearing on the North side of SR 70 for future shared use path at 197th Street.

·         Night work will occur to install drainage on the north side of SR 70 at 197th Street. Flaggers will be used to slow down traffic and shift lanes during this work. Use caution when traversing the area and be aware of flaggers controlling the intersection.

213th Street will be closed starting on October 6th, 2025 to construct the South portion of the 213th Street Road roundabout. During this time no traffic will be permitted to enter or exit 213th via SR 70. A complete detour and message boards will be provided.

I-275 (SR 93) from I-75 to Terra Ceia River: Construction project: Crews are milling, resurfacing and installing pavement markings on 2.2 miles of roadway on I-275 (SR 93) from I-75 to Terra Ceia River. The project improvements include milling and resurfacing, shoulder and ramp work, overbuild for cross slope correction, guardrail and signing and pavement markings. 

• .Motorists can expect single-lane closures on I-275 overnight throughout construction.
  • From October 5 through October 23, motorists can expect outside lane closures on westbound I-275 to remove and replace guardrails during the hours of 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Motorists can expect temporary on- and off-ramp closures at the intersection of US 41 and I-275 with overnight detours. Only one ramp will be closed at a time.
• Motorists may wish to use alternate routes if traveling in the area from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m.

Estimated completion is late summer 2026

US 301 from 25th Court East to 13th Avenue East: Construction project: Crews are in the final stages of a 7.6-mile improvement project consisting of milling and resurfacing the roadway, widening in areas, base work, curb and gutter, sidewalk, guardrail, drainage improvements, bridge expansion joints, signalization, and pavement marking.

• Motorists can expect daytime shoulder closures along US 301 for shoulder construction at intersections between 25th Court East and 13th Avenue East.
• Motorists can expect intermittent nighttime shoulder widening at various intersections Sunday through Thursday for the next few weeks.
• Motorists can expect nighttime paving with flagging operations to resume at various intersections throughout the project.
•  The project’s completion is expected fall of 2025.
