About
The Florida Department of Transportation will be constructing two new pedestrian bridges and intersection improvements along the Legacy Trail in Sarasota County. The trail is within the right of way limits of abandoned CSX railroad tracks and the proposed bridges will span over Clark Road (SR 72) and Bee Ridge Road (SR 758). Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining wall ramps will also be constructed on both approaches to each bridge along with minor roadway and trail modifications to accommodate the new bridges.

SR 758 Bee Ridge Road at the Legacy Trail: Construction project: Crews are constructing two new pedestrian bridges and intersection improvements along the Legacy Trail in Sarasota County.
- Lane closures: Through the month of April and May, there will be occasional east and westbound lane closures during the day between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Detours: The next detours are expected on April 30 and May 1. Motorists can expect scheduled detours east and westbound on Bee Ridge Road from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. The detours are necessary so crews can conduct overhead bridge construction and eventually remove the existing roadway crosswalk, once the bridge is open. There may be intermittent detours during May to complete construction operations.
Final project completion is expected in June 2025.
